Chuck Rainey Medical & Well Health Fund
On November 4th, 2011 Chuck Rainey, a prolific bassist whose mile-long list of credits over the span of 43-plus years includes Aretha Franklin, Quincy Jones and Steely Dan, suffered a stroke at his home near Dallas, Texas. He has been under observation and has begun physical therapy. Chuck has now been released and is working on his therapy at home. We are hopeful for a full recovery, but it could be a very long road ahead. Strokes are an elusive disease, but what we do know is that the best treatment and the sooner we can apply this treatment greatly affects coming back from a stroke.
One hurdle for Chuck is that while is he undergoing treatment he is not able to work - as he is spending time with his family, resting and working on his therapy. What this means is that while the medical bills rise, the income decreases.
Chuck has given a lifetime of service to fans of music. Through the years, Rainey has been tapped to contribute his bass expertise to albums from Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway, Joe Walsh, Tim Buckley, Bette Midler, Robert Palmer, Jackson Browne, Betty Davis and Dusty Springfield, among many others. He played on every track but one on what is considered Steely Dan's best album, "Aja."
So, if you could take the time and please dig deep to contribute to Chuck's medical fund it would be most appreciated. All donations will go directly to Chuck and Susan Rainey and will be used exclusively for Chuck's treatment and healthful well-being. If we can all just give a bit it can add up to make difference to Chuck.
Any little bit helps. And, please, pass along this information and this link to anyone that would like to help!
Thank you and God Bless!
